One thing that really allows Christians to grow, both as individuals and as a community, is a small group meeting for Bible study and prayer. Here at Elmwood Chapel, we call such groups “Life Groups” and we try to offer a variety of times and places so that everyone can have the opportunity to join one or more.
Discussion Group - This group meets every Monday night at the Panera Bread at the corner of highways 9 & 27 in Natick. Chit chat begins at 7:30 pm and a faith related topic is presented around 8:00 pm and discussed till 9:00 pm. For more information, contact Bill Mayhew.
Pastor’s Bible study - An in-depth study of Acts. Taught by the pastor, who hands out notes about each Bible verse in the study, this group meets at the church (in the Hope room on the main floor) every Tuesday morning from 9:30-11:00 am.
Bailey Bible study - .Started in 1999, this is is our longest running LIFE group. Held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday nights of the month from 7:30-9:00 pm, this group meets at the home of Don Bailey. Currently, this Bible study is covering a selection of Bible passages on hope. A Bible passage is read, followed by a discussion. A vital part of the evening follows, when the group prays for each other. For more information, contact Don Bailey (who organizes and hosts the group) or Patricia DeMarrais (the teacher).
The Barnabas Group - Want a nice relaxing way to spend Sunday afternoons? This might be the LIFE group for you! Meeting every other Sunday afternoon at the church after coffee hour has completely been cleaned up and put away (say, about 1:00 or 1:15), this LIFE group usually has a short meditation on a Bible verse, followed by a lesson, then the group prays for each other. Or sometimes we just go out for lunch! We even have a little six-year old boy to entertain us during the lesson. What a plus. Currently the group is studying how to live a more abundant life by obeying God’s commandments. For more information, contact Patricia DeMarrais.
